Chapter Status

We are the Massachusetts Iota Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.  While composed of only Boston College Undergraduates, we are not officially affiliated with the University, Boston College.

As an Independent Student Organization, we maintain local autonomy, and all policy decisions must be made without obligation to any parent organization. In this way, the independence and integrity of the College are maintained.

After enduring three years of sustainable operation, with a consistent membership of 40 men and the support of Headquarters, the MA Iota chapter has had our Charter approved. In fact, we can even boast our tax-exempt status as a 501(c) Not-For-Profit Corporation.

A Fraternity of Leadership and Service

Letters from the President:

I would like to welcome you to the online home of the Massachusetts Iota Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon. In the spring semester of 2009, a Boston College graduate student, who was a SigEp as an undergraduate, had sparked a movement of young men, intrigued by the idea of building a fraternity on campus. The pursuits of day-to-day college life did not suffice, and the opportunity for excellence presented itself. Representatives from SigEp headquarters met with us to discuss the fraternity's mission and values. A New Chapter Development team arrived into our community to help us build our chapter from the ground up. In November 2009, we brought this idea to life with thirty-three brothers strong. In the fall of 2011 we enjoyed our largest recruiting class and our chapter now stands at 55 members.

Sigma Phi Epsilon prides itself on being different, following the award-winning Balanced Man Program and shunning traditional "frat boy" stereotypes that have often plagued fraternities across the nation. Our chapter works hard to promote academic excellence, philanthropic involvement, athletic success and lifelong friendship among brothers. This is in accordance with both the mentality of our Fraternity and the Jesuit ideals of our University.

As Founding Fathers, this Executive board is driven to continue and build upon our achievements thus far. We have consistently been one of the top fundraisers for Relay for Life. We have recruited speakers and teachers for brotherhood development. We have developed our academic committee, so that brothers can use each other as resources when it comes to class and major selection. This semester we aim to achieve full chartering in conjunction with striving to improve our member development program. We are always looking for young men who are interested in joining our endeavor and becoming balanced men. I would encourage you to explore our website so you can see yourself why we are "different," and if you have any questions whatsoever, feel free to contact me personally.

Thank you for interest,

Thomas Campbell
